There’s good news in the world of STD prevention: The number of condoms sold in the United States rose by 25% in 2011. So either one lucky guy who practices safe sex is having a lot more of it, or more men are smartening up about their sexual health.

Unfortunately, many of those men (maybe even you) are making crucial mistakes when it comes to condom use. Strapping it on and giving ‘er a go doesn’t fit the bill anymore– You need to make sure you’re doing it right!

These are the top 5 condom mistakes guys make without even knowing it, and what you can do to make them right:

  1. You’re not leaving space at the tip
Sure it looks a little odd having extra latex space between your weenier and the end of the condom, but that small bit of space is going to be what keeps the condom working. That space is crucial for the seamen to have a place to go. Your little fellas swim so fast out of your body that if you don’t leave enough space (at least quarter of an inch), they’re likely to break the condom. 24.3% of unplanned pregnancies caused while wearing a condom were reported to have been caused because of this issue.

Condoms 101: Back To Basics

8225081930 cf05bbd1b3 Condoms 101: Back To Basics

According to the New York Times, less than half the schools in North America now provide sexual health and education to their students. Although many political figures (as well as a majority of the Catholic School Boards across the United States) have said that refraining from teaching sex ed will promote abstinence, that doesn’t seem to be the case: 2010 and 2011 had higher rates of teen and early 20′s pregnancies than any other years in history. And, for all the naysayers who will attribute it to people getting married at a younger age, nearly 80% of all the babies born to teen and early 20′s parents in 2011 were born out of wedlock.

It’s easy to assume that these kids are simply not using protection, but Trojan Condoms showed an increase in sales for people between 18 and 25 in 2012, which leads us to a pretty obvious conclusion: People are simply using condoms wrong.

When you’re not taught proper use of condoms in school, chances are you’re going to go the rest of your life putting on your condoms as you always have: Improperly.

Our Sexperts have decided to take it back to to the basics of condoms to show our Sex Searchers exactly what they need to do to ensure they’re being fully protected.

Put it on before you start
A staggering 42% of men in a survey conducted by Vogue Men said they prefer sex without condoms. That’s a whole lot of babies waiting to happen, and even more STDs waiting to get contracted. The survey found that some men dislike the feeling of condoms during intercourse so much that they don’t actually wrap their tool until they’re close to ejaculation. If this is your method, you need to rethink your game. First of all, those condoms will do absolutely nothing to prevent you from STDs if you put them on after already beginning intercourse. Secondly, precum can get a woman pregnant just as easily as cum can. It’s a slight release of ejaculate before the male actually climaxes, so most of the time you can’t feel when it’s about to happen, or even when it’s happening. If you want to stay protected, put on the rubber before you start rocking.  Continue reading

The Holidays Continue: It’s National Condom Day!

condoms The Holidays Continue: Its National Condom Day!

It seems like every day this week we’re getting something new to celebrate. Yesterday was Steak and Blow Job day, and today we’re celebrating something equally as important: It’s National Condom Day.

Although the day isn’t officially sponsored by anyone and has only been celebrated since 2007, the general public has embraced National Condom Day. So much so that it’s proving to be more popular than a favorite American pastime– Baseball!

According to Twitter statistics, a website that tracks the daily trending topics and topic traction on the social networking site, Twitter users Tweeted nearly 7,000 Tweets per minute last year during the final game of the World Series. That was enough to keep ‘World Series’ on the Trending Topics list for nearly 5 straight hours. Impressive, but not nearly as impressive as the support people are showing for condoms– Nearly twice as many people have been Tweeting today about National Condom Day then ones who tweeted during the biggest baseball game of the year.

So far today, ‘National Condom Day’ has gained 13, 500 Tweets per minute and has been a Trending Topic on the site for seven hours. That’s a lot of people looking forward to celebrating rubber!

What are some of the things you can do to celebrate National Condom Day?

Using A Condom Is The New ‘In’ Thing

usingcondom2 Using A Condom Is The New In Thing

Over the past 10 years, the rates of adults between the ages of 18 and 29 using condoms has been rapidly decreasing. In turn, STD contractions have increased, as have unexpected pregnancies. But now that the porn industry is changing the condom game, we might see more people wrapping up in 2012!

In a survey done by Penthouse Magazine in 2009, they asked 3500 readers where they learn their sex moves from. The results weren’t surprising: 3% said from their friends, 8% said movies and television, 26% said from personal experience, and a whopping 61% said they learned their best moves from watching porn (2% had a different response). With this in mind, it’s easy to assume that the porn industry has a huge influence on our lives in the sheets.

Although we’re used to seeing raw-dog action in porn, that’s about to change.
