There’s good news in the world of STD prevention: The number of condoms sold in the United States rose by 25% in 2011. So either one lucky guy who practices safe sex is having a lot more of it, or more men are smartening up about their sexual health.

Unfortunately, many of those men (maybe even you) are making crucial mistakes when it comes to condom use. Strapping it on and giving ‘er a go doesn’t fit the bill anymore– You need to make sure you’re doing it right!

These are the top 5 condom mistakes guys make without even knowing it, and what you can do to make them right:

  1. You’re not leaving space at the tip
Sure it looks a little odd having extra latex space between your weenier and the end of the condom, but that small bit of space is going to be what keeps the condom working. That space is crucial for the seamen to have a place to go. Your little fellas swim so fast out of your body that if you don’t leave enough space (at least quarter of an inch), they’re likely to break the condom. 24.3% of unplanned pregnancies caused while wearing a condom were reported to have been caused because of this issue.

With men thinking about sex at least a dozen times a day, you’d think they’d be better at talking about it! Psychologists from Texas A&M say that when it comes to questions about sex, men have the harder time being open about their inquiries.

Our Sexperts have found the most common unasked questions about the bedroom by men so you can get the answers you’re looking for with out having to actually ask the questions.

Get your pens ready fellas, because our sex Q&A class is in session!

The girl I’m with says that she’s too sensitive for multiple orgasms. Can that happen, or is this just an excuse?
Look at it this way– She has 8,000 nerve endings in her clitoris alone, and that makes up less than 5% of the entire area of her southern region. If she’s too sensitive immediately after sex, keep the arousal level high by concentrating on other areas like her breasts, neck and thighs until she’s ready for round two.

Is The Media Going Overboard With Making Women Feel Bad About Their Bodies?

Screen shot 2012 04 13 at 2.25.44 PM Is The Media Going Overboard With Making Women Feel Bad About Their Bodies?

If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Her hair is too dry, her breasts are too small, her skin is too orange, and now her vagina is too dark?

Don’t bother re-reading that last part again– You read it right the first time.

A company from India has recently launched a media campaign for a product called Clean and Dry Intimate Wash that promises to lighten the skin around the vagina. It’s not uncommon for skin hygiene products in Asia to contain bleaching ingredients, but this is the first time we’re seeing something targeted towards changing the color of someone’s vagina.

In 2009, spas and salons in American and Canada saw a rather large increase of people requesting services to get their anus bleached, but the trend is now traveling a little forward, as the Indian body wash isn’t the only sign that people are looking to lighten their southern regions: The York Spa, a SoHo region based salon in Manhattan and one of the most widely visited salons in the country, has said that the number of women inquiring about vagina lightening has increased nearly 300% in only a four-month span.

So what does this mean for the average dater? Do you need to break into your laundry supply of liquid bleach in a desperate attempt to whiten your lady bits before you have sex with someone again? We asked our Sexperts if they thought this was a necessary step, and their answers were an unanimous no. A big no.

According to a study published by GQ Magazine in 2010, a majority of men (nearly 62% of them, if you want to get technical) say that they prefer a natural woman– No hair dye, minimal make-up, and an organic look. Although vagina and anal bleaching weren’t specific topics of the study, basic human urges for a naturally developed partner can safely lead you to the conclusion that a bleached vagina isn’t something men want.

There will always be commercials trying to convince you that you need the latest cosmetic products are things you desperately need in order to improve your sex life, but knowledge of sexually stimulating moves and actions will get you a lot further than lightened genitals!

Don’t buy into the media pressure: Becoming knowledgeable about sex from websites like our Sex Search blog is much more important than making yourself more ascetically pleasing. Read up, become an expert, and attract people to your sexuality, not your unnatural body parts.
