The iPhone has changed our lives in countless ways. We never get lost anymore, we can see our loved ones who are on the other side of the world, we can Google anything from anywhere, and we no longer have to wait until 6 o’clock to hear the latest news from the world. But one of the most noticeable changes for adults has been to their sex lives. Whether it’s for the better or for the worse, there’s a noticable difference between the sex lives of the past and that of our new, technologically advanced lifestyles.
Our Sexperts have looked into the ups and downs we’ve seen since the iPhone broke onto the market, and it’s obvious that the Apple product has both hindered and helped our lives.
iSex Pro: We’re more educated on sex as a whole.
Studies from Washington University have shown that apps like the iKamasutra and iPositions have given the general masses easy access to knowledge about sexual health, lifestyles, and new ways to spice up bedroom life. Because people can now learn about sex in a discrete and intimate manner, they’re more likely to seek answers to questions they would have otherwise been to embarrassed to ask. The Washington study showed that the average adult is nearly twice as sexually educated than people of the same age and lifestyles a decade ago.
iSex Con: It’s lowered our standards.
We all expected technological advances by 2012, but who knew those advances would actually lower our standards when looking for a match? A survey taken of 30-year-old smartphone owners showed that people who own iPhones have had more partners since purchasing their phones than people with other devices. Just how many more? The average iPhone user has 12.3 partners. The average Android user just 6.1.
