Is The Media Going Overboard With Making Women Feel Bad About Their Bodies?
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Her hair is too dry, her breasts are too small, her skin is too orange, and now her vagina is too dark?
Don’t bother re-reading that last part again– You read it right the first time.
A company from India has recently launched a media campaign for a product called Clean and Dry Intimate Wash that promises to lighten the skin around the vagina. It’s not uncommon for skin hygiene products in Asia to contain bleaching ingredients, but this is the first time we’re seeing something targeted towards changing the color of someone’s vagina.
In 2009, spas and salons in American and Canada saw a rather large increase of people requesting services to get their anus bleached, but the trend is now traveling a little forward, as the Indian body wash isn’t the only sign that people are looking to lighten their southern regions: The York Spa, a SoHo region based salon in Manhattan and one of the most widely visited salons in the country, has said that the number of women inquiring about vagina lightening has increased nearly 300% in only a four-month span.
So what does this mean for the average dater? Do you need to break into your laundry supply of liquid bleach in a desperate attempt to whiten your lady bits before you have sex with someone again? We asked our Sexperts if they thought this was a necessary step, and their answers were an unanimous no. A big no.
According to a study published by GQ Magazine in 2010, a majority of men (nearly 62% of them, if you want to get technical) say that they prefer a natural woman– No hair dye, minimal make-up, and an organic look. Although vagina and anal bleaching weren’t specific topics of the study, basic human urges for a naturally developed partner can safely lead you to the conclusion that a bleached vagina isn’t something men want.
There will always be commercials trying to convince you that you need the latest cosmetic products are things you desperately need in order to improve your sex life, but knowledge of sexually stimulating moves and actions will get you a lot further than lightened genitals!
