About Me: 1. Eve wakes up with a startled look and embraces Adam. She tells him she has dreamt of offences and trouble rather than her regular dreams of work in the Garden. She tells Adam that a voice, which she thought was Adam’s, called her to wake up. She woke up but didn’t find Adam next to her, so in search of Adam, she began to walk around the Garden. She found herself at the Tree of Knowledge, which seemed to catch her attention more than it normally would, and found an angel sitting by the tree. “O fair plant, said he, with fruit surcharged deigns none to ease thy load and taste thy sweet, nor god, no man; is knowledge so despised? Or envy, or what reserve forbids to taste?” (5.58-5.61). The angel then took a piece of fruit from the tree and took a bite. The angel, to Eve’s shock, is overjoyed and then offers a piece of Eve. “Here, happy creature, fair angelic Eve, partake thou also; happy though thou art, happier thou may’st be, worthier canst not be; taste this, and be henceforth among the gods thyself a goddess” (5.74-5.78). The angel takes Eve into the sky with the piece of fruit lingering in front of her by the angel’s hand but suddenly she drops from the sky and awakens.
