About Me: I am single and have never married. (I have no idea why!) I consider myself somewhat introverted, and of melancholic temperament (don't let this scare you: it is a normal and common psychological type -- the term is just not used much any more). It has been characterized as "thoughtful and compassionate". I share a suburban house on a cul-de-sac with a large grey cat, Jethro. I am incurably anglophilic. Interests/passions: In my private life: My friends. Living life to its fullest. Staying busy and being useful -- I'm passionate about NOT retiring. Staying healthy. Increasing knowledge and hopefully gaining a bit of wisdom (but about the latter I'm a little skeptical). Publicly, these are the things I care most about: developing urban mass transit (I'm an ardent DART fan and use it all I can). I'd like to see before I die a nationwide high-speed rail network (Amtrak is my favorite institution). I love public art in beautiful cities (e.g., downtown Chicago -- and Dallas is getting close to being one).
