About Me: I am a fan of the natural world. I love outdoor activities, especially camping, hiking, backpacking, nature photography, birding and botanizing. I love being away from the trappings of civilization and feeling closer to the primal core of existance. But you can't live outside all the time: I also enjoy cooking (I've been trying out this Indian cookbook lately--good stuff), reading (mostly science and history, with an occasional mystery or science fiction for spice), a bit of TV [esp. PBS (Nova and Nature) and mysteries (NCIS junkie from first season, Burn Notice, Castle) and messing around on the computer. I am not in the best shape of my life, but I'm trying to improve. I exercise daily--well, almost. I walk for at least a half hour at least five days a week. I haven't entirely given up salty and sugary snacks, but I try to limit myself to those I've baked myself. I'm not vegetarian, but I try to limit my meat intake to one meal a day (although leftovers get a free pass).
